Saturday night I get a ticket for an illegal U-turn which is not even illegal... Today I get home and I have two solicitations from lawyers saying that they could help me win this in court... Great. I can spend $500 to have a lawyer help me with this in court, or I can just do it myself. Tough choice. And how the fuck did they get my name anyway?
I stopped into a Huffman Koos today on my way home, just for fun. (For anyone not from the area, Huffman Koos is a chain of WAY-overpriced furniture stores that is going out of business). Just because they're closing down does not mean they're any cheaper. I saw a pair of barstools there. Granted, they were nice barstools. They were heavy wood with a carved design, leather seat cushion, with seat backs. I figured they should probably retail for about $150 each. Not a chance. The marked-down price was $1200- read it again with me- one thousand two hundred dollars- each. Other furniture was priced similarly, being 5 to 10 times more expensive than it should have been. Small wonder they're going out of business.

Maybe the lawyers are what do they call them - ambulence chaser? no that's not right, you weren't in an accident - but equivalent - those who prey on people who are in "need" in the hopes of getting a commission. Bad bad people.
