Oct. 11th, 2020 04:00 pm🦵 Dad had hip replacement surgery. I spent Wednesday thru Saturday at their house helping out. Fortunately everything went well, and he was discharged Friday. By Friday afternoon, he was hobbling around the house with his walker. Hopefully things continue to progress well.
Funny note: The physical therapist came over Saturday morning to go over see how he was getting around the house. Until he heals up, he is supposed to climb stairs doing the work with his good leg, meaning that regardless of whether he is going up or down, the healthy leg stays or goes up, and the leg that had the work done stays or goes down. The mnemonic for that is that the good leg goes to heaven, and the bad leg goes to hell.
👵🐶 Mom was surprisingly tolerable during my stay. She nagged me a bit about my diet, but otherwise didn't bother me much. Their dog slowly but surely seems to be warming up to me, too, which is good news. Much of the time, he ducked away from me. But while I was watching the VP debate, he stayed there with me for about half of the debate and let me pet him. Another time I was sitting on the couch, he came up to me and laid down near me. Hopefully that continues.
