Dec. 18th, 2017 10:00 pmThis shit only happens to me...
The dealership called me on my cell phone to inform me that my car came in. So I returned my rental to the rental company.
In the meantime, the salesperson saw that the car that was delivered to the dealership was the wrong color. Apparently four separate people at the dealership signed off on the car, and nobody noticed that it was the wrong color until the salesman saw it. So the salesman tried to reach me, but he called my house line instead of my cell phone, and I never got the call.
One of my coworkers drops me off at the dealer on his way home. As I walk in, the salesman and the manager start apologizing profusely.
"Well, how long will it take to deliver a car in the color I wanted?"
"Two to three days." I know full well that they have to locate another car and have it delivered here, and that could take up to six days, just like they did for the one that arrived in the wrong color. I also know that I had used up all the time that insurance was going to pay for a rental, and that if I was going to extend the rental, it would be on my dime.
So I ended up accepting a pearlescent white car instead of a metallic dark grey car.
Mental note: next time, don't shop for a car while under the gun.
