I'll bet that student caused some tweedy pinko professors to stroke out during his or her time at Texas A&M. :-D>

(Of course, I Googled the phrase and got results that attributed it to various anonymous sources, as well as a bunch of folks who use it as a sign-off in forums, all of which makes me wonder if there isn't a snopes.com investigation of its true origins in the near future. Not that finding out the source of the quote would make it any less delicious, or less true.)

Naw, those tweedy pinko prof's were smoking a lot of pot and couldn't remember the beginning of the sentence by the time they got to the end of it.

And indeed, everyone and their mother seems to be using it as a signoff. Somebody had this statement posted in their workstation at work. Since I won't LJ at work, I googled "pick up a turd by the clean end" to get the whole statement.
