I never understood how people came up with the expression "learning curve." It means the time that it takes for a person to learn a task, as in "There's a pretty steep learning curve on that new software." But in that context, the words "learning curve" don't make any sense. The most annoying part is that I find myself using the expression because everyone knows what it means. I can't escape it.
