This morning, I endeavored to get my car inspected. I figured it's a good time to, especially since I just fixed up everything that was wrong with it and I'm about six months overdue on my inspection *ahem*. I like going to the Newark inspection station because they seem to pass any car that has four wheels and moves under its own power.

So anyway, I woke up bright and early, hoping to get my car inspected before work. I headed down Route 21. As I approached the spot where the highway approaches the first traffic light, traffic came to a halt. I creeped and crawled about two more lights before I gave up and tried the back roads.

Big mistake. I turned onto Broad Street, heading towards the center of town. Broad Street was not moving at all. And where I was, there was no place to go to turn or anything. So I was stuck in it.

Ten minutes became twenty minutes and eventually a half hour. In that time, I had crawled maybe 500 feet. Three lanes were narrowed to two lanes, and then to one lane. And University Ave, which normally would provide a very convenient detour, was closed off. Naturally, every bus route in the state runs down Broad Street, Newark, and each one had to stop in this one lane section. And all this hubbub so that a few guys could pick at the pavement in the right lane.

Honestly, was it really necessary to tie up half of Downtown Newark for some rinkydink job during rush hour? [/rant]

Needless to say, I abandoned my plans to get my car inspected, and I barely made it to work on time. I'll try again tomorrow.
