Jun. 29th, 2015 08:18 pmMost of my family are blue-collar types, and every time there's a family event it ends up being at a low-budget hall. So I was more than a little surprised to see that my cousin's son's christening ended up being in a beautiful country club-looking place. To get to it, you had to drive down a 1/4 mile long road, and there were beautiful manicured lawns, and valet parking. I felt kind of weird giving the keys to my beat-up Honda to a valet driver. The inside of the place was just as beautiful as the outside. I was a bit out-classed, and knowing my family, it was odd to have the event in a place like this.
Nonetheless, the party was enjoyable. I did get to catch up with some guys my cousin and I know from our boy scouting days, and also with another cousin and his longtime girlfriend. I managed to avoid Uncle Boozy most of the night, which was kind of a plus.
I'm still annoyed that I couldn't go to pride, though. Oh well, family comes first.
One of my neighbors is cooking what smells like kielbasa and sauerkraut, and now I. Want. Some.
The guy that interviewed me the other week called me for a second interview. I'm still a little concerned about what my boss at my previous job will say, as these guys know them. But I presume that they would have talked to them by this point, so the danger may be past. Wish me luck!
