■ I did manage to land a job interview. As it happens, this is another company in downtown Newark. If the interview is any indication, this company is a little more my speed, especially compared to the last place I was at. They are not all about high design, doing more run of the mill stuff and a lot of technical work.

The only issue is that these people know the principals at the old firm pretty well. I'm a little concerned that the principals at my last job won't give the best opinion of me. Hopefully they talk to my previous boss, too. He liked my work. Maybe I'm worrying over nothing.

■ I'm still amazed every time I drive past the Budweiser plant in Newark how some of the most wonderful smells emanate from it, and yet their beer is the most Zod-awful swill known to man.

■ My parents were supposed to have a Father's Day barbeque tomorrow, so they asked me to come today to help them set up for it. Since a bunch of participants called off due to having their own father's day stuff, and due to the entrails of tropical storm Bill blowing through tonight into tomorrow morning, the party was called off. So we just hung around and had pizza for dinner. They will probably have the party in a few weeks, so I'll be stuck helping out then.

I wasn't planning on actually attending the party, because I don't really feel like hanging around a bunch of retirees in their mid-60's. Also, one of my friends who moved out of the area will be around tomorrow, so we're going to hang around at a barcade, playing old arcade games like Asteriods while possibly drinking beers.

■ I was hoping to go to the NYC pride parade next Sunday, but I just realized that I won't be able to. My cousin's son's christening is on the same day. I totally forgot about the christening, and I can't blow that off. Thanks, cousin Chris. :P

I'm really not looking forward to the christening. Being stuck in a building full of relatives and people on the periphery of knowing me or my parents is not really enjoyable.

On that note I should ask my psychiatrist if it's appropriate to take one of the milder antipsychotics on days where I have to do these social things. Anti-anxiety drugs like Xanax and Vistaril don't seem to do it. I wouldn't need an antipsychotic everyday, just on days where I'm stuck at a social event. I'll have to bring it up next time I see him, which won't be for a few months.

(It may seem odd that I am not bothered by a parade but I'm bothered by my own family. For me at least, if it's an event where I'm anonymous, it doesn't bother me. If it's a situation where I know a lot of people and I'm expected to chit-chat, it's a lot worse for me.)

■ Speaking of meds, I've been getting that tingly cold feeling in my feet that I was getting prior to going on thyroid pills. The culprit: I got a different brand of vitamin D supplements, and these were in pill form rather than the gel tabs that they normally come in. Turns out the pills have calcium carbonate in them, which blocks absorption of the thyroid med. I started taking the vitamin D tablets with lunch, and the tingly cold feeling is going away.

Unexpected, but now I know I have to watch out for that.
