■ This is only the second time in the last 15 years that I've had to come in on a Sunday. Client gave us two big jobs, client's boss got pissed off that both big jobs went to the same company, and basically demanded that one of the jobs be in their hands tomorrow morning. So we had to whip together a project fast. I worked on it all of the last two weeks, and my boss asked me to come in yesterday and today too.

I'm exhausted now. And I still have to work tomorrow. Blah.

■ A tale of car batteries: The battery that my car came with died three years ago. About the same time, my dad preemptively replaced my brother's (now ex-) girlfriend's car battery when she moved to California. The girlfriend's battery fit in my car and was technically still working, so I switched it out with my dead battery. My dad bought me a new battery anyway, and changed it out for me. He hung on to the girlfriend's battery and disposed of my original battery.

Friday evening, the battery my father bought for me died. My car battery is an odd size, so I would have to special-order a replacement. Lo and behold, my father still had the girlfriend's battery, and it still held a charge. So we put the girlfriend's battery back in my car. And I am riding around with an eight-year-old battery for the time being. I don't know how long it will last, but for the moment I'll take it.

■ Because it came up on the radio at work (thankfully only once), and it's been in my head all day now. One of my favorite Jethro Tull songs:
