Which is nice, except they only want people to get money via the debit card. Since I lost the debit card they gave me last time, and since the first payment had to be via debit card, I was told that they would issue a new debit card, and then I could set future payments to be via direct deposit.
So when I collected for the second week, I set it for direct deposit and didn't give the original payment or the new payment a second thought. Nor did I give it a thought for the next few times I collected. Then the other day my bank emails me that my balance is low. I realized that despite setting unemployment to pay via direct deposit, it all went to the debit card that I no longer have. Granted, shame on me for not checking my bank statement, but it's also annoying that unemployment operates in this manner. I now have to wait for a new debit card to be mailed to me. And furthermore, when I get the new debit card, since there is no way to directly deposit the money in my bank account, I have to withdraw cash from the ATM and then take the cash into the bank to deposit it. And even worse, when I withdraw the money, since my bank isn't the same as the issuing card, I have to use the ATM at one bank and deposit at a different bank. (Either that, or pay the $3 fee every time I withdraw money from the debit card.)
I'm really annoyed with this. I shouldn't have to go through hoops and hurdles like this.
-So Thanksgiving is at my boozy uncle's house. Whooppee. Let it be said that if he gets trashed like he usually does, I have no problem getting up and leaving without saying anything to anyone.
-Have fun shopping on Friday, but be careful out there. http://blackfridaydeathcount.com/
