Mental health rag time: I've been having serious problems falling asleep lately. So I talked to my shrinky-dink about it at my last appointment. He gave me Doxepin and Ambien to try (not at the same time - try one, then try the other).

So far I've only tried the Doxepin. Holy crap, this stuff is sedating... it's like two or three doses of NyQuil put together. I took the pill before bed on Thursday and slept like I've never slept before. I almost overslept work on Friday, and drank a lot of coffee to get through the day. I didn't take a pill last night because I was still groggy, but I still had trouble sleeping. Now it's noon on Saturday and my head is still reeling from a pill I took more than 36 hours ago.

I haven't taken the Ambien yet. I'm hoping it isn't as strong as the Doxepin.

He also upped my Viibryd dose, because even though I was mostly doing well, the medication seemed to lose its effect in the later part of the second day. So instead of taking 1/8 of a 10 pill every other day, now I'm taking 1/8 of a 10 mg pill every day. And yes, even at this ridiculously low dose, I'm seeing a big benefit from these pills.
