In light of the fact that Windows XP is only being supported for about four more months (see my last post), I have to buy a new computer coming soon. (I don't want to upgrade my current computer because it's about 7 years old, and it lulls and gags on YouTube videos)

I'm not crazy about Apple computers, and they're kind of expensive. And I'm not computer-savvy enough to attempt to run Linux. I really need something that works out of the box. So that leaves Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Windows 7 is an older system, which means it's going to be obsolete that much more quickly. But it looks like a normal system, at least. Also, it won't be sold much longer.

Windows 8 is the current system, but it has this daunting interface that doesn't look like anything I've ever used. I'm hearing/seeing a lot of complaints about it.

So which way should I go? Should I bite the bullet and go with Windows 8? Or should I stick with something I'm comfortable with, and go with Windows 7? Is 8 as bad as I think it is? Any advice?
