Oct. 30th, 2012 01:33 pm-I made it through the storm pretty much intact. No flooding in my ground-floor apartment, no broken windows, and other than leaves all over the place, no damage to my car. The storm seems to have taken out my local cell tower, because I can't get service, but other than that, everything is as it should be.
-A lot of low-lying areas were hit very hard by the storm surge, along the barrier islands along the New Jersey and Long Island shores, in and around New York City, and elsewhere. There are plenty of downed trees everywhere. My heart goes out to anyone who lost everything.
-I'm going to echo what our governor Chris Christie said yesterday: if you didn't evacuate the barrier islands ahead of the storm, you are an idiot. I'm not Christie's biggest fan, but he handled this disaster very well.
-Lucy the Elephant made it through the hurricane. This pleases me greatly.
