Dec. 2nd, 2007 11:13 amA decade ago, when I still lived with the parents, we would periodically get ads on cable TV for Sonic Restaurants. Of course, I'd never heard of Sonic. Could it be, a new fast-food chain? Visions of hamburgers, French fries, onion rings, and all sorts of delectible goodies filled my head.
I ran to the computer to see what the internet would turn up. My hands trembled as I nervously typed S-O-N-I-C R-E-S-T-A-U-R-A-N-T-S into the AOL search engine. As it turned out, the closest one was all the way in West Virginia, a six-hour drive from me. I guess the station was nationally syndicated, and the commercials wormed their way into the New York City area. My heart sank.
This morning, there was a certain stir in the air that I couldn't quite place, though for some reason it reminded me of the time that a Waffle House opened in Bethlehem, PA. Then, as I went through my Frindslist, first
bigdaddygoob posted and then
duckalmighty echoed:
There's a Sonic in New Jersey!
