No, powerful special interest groups aren't trying to "redefine marriage." A segment of the population just wants to get the same treatment that everyone else gets.
I have been avoiding politics here in LJ-land, but this is ridiculous. Gays are in complete agony because they are being denied hundreds of rights provided by marriage that make it possible to run a family. People that push "family values" simply refuse to see the unfair burden that they place on same-sex couples for no reason.
I don't mean to ramble on; I'm sure you've all heard this before and you're all tired of hearing about it. Just do me a favor, if you have been supporting family values, please stop. And if you do support same-sex unions (and preferably marriage), if you have the chance please knock a little sense into some of the family values types.
