May. 24th, 2007 08:19 pmDid you ever meet someone face-to-face, after talking to them for a month on the phone, only to find they were nothing like what you were imagining them to be like?
My real estate lawyer had this really scratchy voice. He spoke slowly and tended to use the same catchy phrases a lot. To me, he sounded like a 70-year old guy trying not to seem as stodgy as his career choice and age would suggest.
Today I swung by his office to pick up a stack of paperwork. I opened the door and stepped inside, and was greeted by a guy who was probably younger than I am. There was no mistaking the scratchy voice uttering the same catchy phrases, but I did a double-take when I first saw him. And to boot, he also moved like a 70-year old guy that was trying not to seem old and stodgy.
*shrug*
In other news, I now have an inch-thick double-sided copy of the condo association by-laws which will be my pleasure reading for the next night or two. I have to make sure I agree with this thing before I sign on the dotted line.
