Apr. 19th, 2007 09:58 pm-Regarding the VA shooter, as much as it was the shooter that killed those students, I don't feel any ill will towards him. The guy was insane and not in any control of his thoughts or emotions.
I am, however, disappointed in the school administration and law enforcement. The shooter was declared a threat to the rest of the student body, yet he was allowed to continue his studies unsupervised. He bullied teachers and yet he somehow was able to make it to his senior year. He was able to purchase firearms even though he was declared insane. The opportunity to stop him from becoming a danger was there, and nothing was done. At the very least, I hope that this incident is an eye-opener. A person in the shooter's condition must be supervised for everyone's safety.
That's how I feel.
-I got to see NJIT up-close for the first time since maybe 2002. (I graduated in 2000 and had been back twice to take care of some minor issues) It seemed like half the buildings had been replaced or totally renovated. It had been five years since I was there last, and I barely recognized the place. Totally surreal.
