Centralia, PA is the site of an underground coal fire which has been burning since the 1960's. Read the Wikipedia page for the back-story.

A little warning for anyone planning on taking this little trek: See where it says "Dangerous gases present?" They're not kidding. It's like getting stuck in traffic and being the car behind some taxicab with 400,000 miles on it which has never had a tune-up. I got a real bad headache after a few minutes. Even with Tylenol, the headache persisted for about two hours.
