While I disagree pretty strongly with much of what comes from the Vatican, I have to admit I am in awe of the man that led the Catholic Church for the past quarter-century. Pope John Paul II traveled the world, clashed with dictators, made peace with enemies of the church, and spread the promise of peace and hope. He gave of himself until there was nothing left to give, and all he wanted in return was that the world was made a better place for all. His successor will be stepping into some very large shoes.

I knew the price of gas went up, I just didn't realize how much. It cost me $27.25 to fill my tank, an all-time record (for a 13.6 gallon tank)! And not only was that not in New York where they have a higher gas tax, that was at my source, at the Gas Nazi! $1.999 a gallon for regular, and it looks like the prices are still going up.

I found a place selling pre-seasoned cast iron pans and griddles. I got a griddle. I never cooked on cast iron before, but I'm told it's very good cookware. (And yes, I know that you are not supposed to wash it with soap, and absolutely never with detergent or in a dishwasher.)
