So last night 10 others and myself (you know who you are, I'll let you out yourselves) went to Jekyll and Hyde's, in the Village. Things I learned:

1. The coffee from the coffee shop in Newark Penn Station is absolutely awful. Oh well, if the caffeine don't wake ya, then the taste will.

2. It's a good idea to have an address for a place you're going before you actually set out to go, to avoid a walking tour of Manhattan.

3. When the address has been acquired, it is best to consult somebody who knows his or her way around the Village, where every road is diagonal to every other road.

4. It is important to clean your hands before eating by dusting your fingernails with one of those poofy furry duster things.

5. Restrooms are fun to look for by feeling along a wall for a hidden door. This is even more fun after you've been drinking.

6. Drinks can be served in syringes. I would have felt utterly ridiculous drinking mine, except that everyone else was drinking one that way.

7. Talking gargoyles are really rude. And they speak with a Mexican accent.

8. Tourists will be amazed by anything. Some woman at the next table was taking photos of all of the talking gargoyles and all the other moving sets around the bar. I bet you if I jingled my car keys in front of her, she would have taken a picture.

9. Food at theme bars is so-so and pretty expensive. Drinks at theme bars are extremely expensive. The tab on tequilla shots and bizaare drinks can add up pretty quickly and very stealthily. (Somehow I managed to keep my part of the tab under $15. But then not many pride their cheapness the way I do. I am Uber-cheap.)

10. If you know where you are in the village, and you know your way around the village, the walk to the PATH train stop can be a really short one.

7. Apparently, it's better to wait a half hour for the next overcrowded train than it is to push your way into the one that's there. (I would have done it... the guys on that train were cute, but oh well...)
